So it was decided: the 40° edition of the floral flowering of Noto will have as theme “The Sicilians in America”, from 17 to 19 May the baroque citadel turns into a gigantic floral composition.
Every year the town of Noto, a small town in the province of Syracuse, offers the citizens of the world an unavoidable floral appointment, riding a local tradition that has been going on for over 20 years
This is the famous “floral carpet”, developed in all its wonderful colors lit along the Via Corrado nicolaci and it is immediately spring thanks to the wonderful flowers that grow luxuriant in the netine countryside.
Each year the event is dedicated to enhancing a different theme, inspired by the different sketches that make up the famous carpet of flowers made by local master florists. As usual, leader is the sketch representing the coat of arms of the city of Noto.
fter the 2017 edition dedicated to the Principality of Monaco, and the 2018 edition to China, the current 2019 edition of’infiorata will welcome the theme of’M being “Sicilian in the World”.
These are the words of the Mayor Corrado bonfanti, which are read in the official press release of the event: For the first time in history, the Sicilians in the World become the focus of an important event. It is a true act of love and pure gratitude: we want to dedicate our prestigious floral to the many communities of Sicilians in the World, allowing them to embrace the beloved Sicily and to tell us about their life experiences, the story of so many successes and undeniable sufferings».
«The sketches created by the netini infioratory masters, the exhibitions set up, the workshops organized and the scheduled shows will be inspired by the Sicilians who have asserted their existence living between Canada and the United States of America. Sicilians who from migrants have become protagonists of success stories».
A real tribute to Sicily and to the “Sicilitudine” (as Leonardo said sciascia), but above all a warm thanks dedicated to all those who this Sicily left, only with the mind but not also with the heart, to try their luck in the United States, and an invitation addressed to these people to embrace the beloved Sicily that always awaits them with a warm “welcome back”.
